#ConanCon Returns

Last year, we had the really cool (and hot...that theater had zero A/C) experience to see a live taping of Conan O'Brien for Comic-Con. We laughed, we applauded, we got free Funkos!! And this year, Conan is back at Spreckles Theatre from July 20-July 24 for #ConanCon

My original Batman Conan Funko Pop from 2015. It was missing it's SDCC Sticker!

This year, because we only have 2 days at SDCC, we decided that Conan and NerdHQ could fill in the other days while we are in San Diego. Conan, announced on his show and  Twitter page (click here for video) that he will be returning for all 4 days and is bringing new Pops!

The lineup this year is a Stormtrooper Conan, Superman Conan, Ghostbuster Conan, and Joker Conan. What Conan said in the video is true; last year as soon as I reached the front door to exit (not even outside yet), people were offering me money for my Batman Conan. One woman told me to be sure a homeless man didn't come and take it because they were going for hundreds of dollars online. One person at a booth in the exhibit hall even wanted a photo of it.

Last year, some of the Funko's matched the guest stars of the day (i.e Zombie Conan for the Walking Dead). Mine did not, however, as we saw the cast of The Hunger Games. But seeing that these are very specific, it is possible that the Star Wars cast and Suicide Squad (out August 5) cast still might be there. If so, I would love to see the Star Wars cast (meaning they would be there Wednesday afternoon). But this is all specualtion.

If you are looking into going to Conan this year, tickets will be available online closer to the date (visit teamcoco.com/comiccon for more info). Last year, a code was emailed out to all badge holders for a chance at tickets. The line up of stars was available after you put in for tickets. If you don't get tickets online, the standby process isn't bad. You have to go to the theater twice before actually seeing the show and if you don't have a car, there are a few hotels nearby that are on the shuttle map. Or you could walk, it's not that bad. There's also a Panera and Chipotle nearby the theatre.

Here are a few tips for going to Conan/Spreckles.
  • The line will be outside, so dress appropriately. You will also be in line for a while, so bring something to do and possibly something to sit on.
  • Once you get inside, there are stairs to climb and it is HOT. That being said, try wearing a lighter cosplay or no cosplay at all (but they do love the costumes).
  • It's also very crowded up in the standby section, so pack light and be prepared for little leg room.
  •  I don't remember if eating was allowed or not, but packing some water in your bag wouldn't be a bad idea.
  • If you're in the standby section (aka the top), it's really not a bad view, but if you plan on taking photos, bring a camera with good zoom.
  • If you get standby tickets and either you and your group are separated or someone in your group gets actual reserved tickets, find a meeting place ahead of time. There's only one exit and hundreds of people, then about 50 more outside who are trying to buy your Funko. There are lots of side areas inside the theatre or you can meet somewhere outside.
That's it! Who do you think will be on Conan for ConanCon? I'm hoping for John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, and Oscar Isaac!
